Community

In addition to taxes and revenues generated by our operations, we contribute to the development of the local economy through activities in workforce development, supplier development and strategic community investments.

ExxonMobil is actively engaged in maximizing the employment and development of Angolan citizens, building local capacity, utilizing qualified local suppliers, contractor and vendors and supporting community initiatives to help the Government of Angola to achieve national objectives, particularly in the areas of public health and education.

We view these specific areas as the primary building blocks for the sustained social and economic development of people and communities throughout Angola:

CAT (Community Action Team) founded in 2005 is a program where an employee committee seek out organizations that can benefit from our enthusiastic team of goodwill ambassadors working on their off-duty time.

In 2002 ExxonMobil Foundation launched the Africa Health Initiative (AHI), to support disease prevention, control and treatment programs, mainly focused on Malaria across Africa.

ExxonMobil Foundation began the Education Women and Girls Initiative in 2005 to provide and improve educational and training opportunities for women and girls in the developing countries all over the world, including Angola. Investment in education for women and girls reaps a high rate of return in the developing world, since it helps to build and support the capacity of women and NGOs so they can drive development and economic growth.
