General Accounting Assistants deal with the
follow up of the cash flow 'on site' (i.e. petrol stations), from the moment
where the customer (owner of the petrol station) pays for fuel delivery or
shop goods until the money is received into the bank account. The cash flow
needs to be checked and secured, this means a lot of corresponding by phone
and e-mail to the site managers, so excellent language and numerical skills
are required. Although accounting experience is not essential for this role,
preference will be given to candidates who have a relevant qualification e.g.
ACCA, or numerical based degree or experience.
Accounts
Payable Assistants’ primary role is to pay invoices. However, it is far from
straight forward. Inconsistencies between vendor deliveries and service
station goods receipts mean that, more often than not, further investigation
is needed. In addition to this the AP Assistant is responsible for handling
queries from a large number of vendors. Although the constant deadlines and
queries can make life rather hectic, the role is interesting, challenging and
often very rewarding.
As a Wetstock or Drystock Management
Assistant you are responsible for monitoring and controlling stock levels of
fuels (petrol and diesel) or products such as crisps, chocolate bars and
newspapers after they have been delivered to a site, and before they are sold
to a customer. A good eye for detail, numerical and language skills are
essential for these roles.
